The Cellar: A Starting Point for Wine Production
The first area addressed was the cellar, allowing the new owners of Villa Cosmiana to commence wine production concurrently with the restoration efforts. The main goal was to reveal the villa’s unseen splendor, reopening windows that had been closed for decades and forging a new relationship with the park. Through large openings, the park has become a vital part of the project.
Integrating the Past with the Present
In addition to the restoration, a thorough analysis of the decorative elements was conducted. This led to the integration of frescoes with a new design, giving Villa Cosmiana a more contemporary life. The decision was also made to preserve and integrate the original patterned floors, which had been altered over time
